Company History

Since it was established in the early 1990’s, the family run specialist fishmongers at Atlantis of Kilmore Quay have embraced their association with the fishing community of Kilmore Quay.

Originally this family business operated a number of vessels from this charming fishing village set on the south east coast of Ireland, landing the freshest of seafood to the picturesque harbour and exporting the majority of its catch.

It didn’t take them long to spot that there was an good opportunity to sell the fish that their boats caught locally and soon, Atlantis of Kilmore Quay began to supply local restaurants and hotels with their exceptional Irish seafood.

30 years on and still family owned and run, Atlantis of Kilmore Quay has gained an enviable reputation for excellent quality and service. This reputation ensured that the business continued to evolve and grow.

Now, John Kenny and Mark O Connor, their families and the team they have built around them carry on the company traditions and commitment to excellence while they maintain their close relationship with the fishing industry in Kilmore.

The company now delivers Kilmore Quay landed fresh fish to top hotels and restaurants nationwide. It also boasts a top class retail shop, traditional smoke house and supplies a great range of gluten free products to all the countries major retail multiples, a product range that allows food lovers to experience restaurant standard seafood dishes at home.

In 2020 restrictions of the Covid-19 emergency made it difficult for a lot of people to get out to buy good, fresh food and it meant that a lot of the hotels and restaurants they supplied had to close for a time.

The team at Atlantis of Kilmore Quay started a home delivery service, using their vans that would normally be used to deliver to restaurants.

The feedback they got from customers was fantastic, orders kept going up and they could see that they had the demand to set up their shop online.
